To reduce recidivism by getting those who had/have conflict with the law to think realistically about their behaviours, and attitudes using a basic self-help philosophy in order to change their thinking and make necessary lifestyle changes through positive peer support.

Susan Hornby conducts an ambitious review of the literature of 7th Step as a pathway to freedom for career criminals. It also places 7th Step within a broader context of corrections, offender rehabilitation, and the correctional environment over the past 50 years – since the establishment of Seventh Step Foundation in the United States.
